Summer Select Academy

Summer Select Academy is a professionally led, preparatory soccer program for rising 5th through 8th grade girls. This program is designed to prepare players for their upcoming Fall Soccer Season. Training sessions and off-field activities aim to develop players  physically, technically, tactically, psychologically and socially.

8/27, 8/28 and 8/29 
9am to 3pm
The Park School, Brookline, MA

Northeastern Women's Soccer joins SSA for team building activities.

Players that participate in the Summer Select Academy will get the following on a daily basis:

  • Conditioning Routines focused on injury prevention – 30 minutes
  • Tactical Training Session – 90 minutes
  • Development Lectures – Sports Psychology, Sports Nutrition, and Exercise Physiology.
  • Lunch
  • Team Building Exercises
  • Tactical Lectures – Principles of Defending, Principles of Attacking.
  • Technical Training Session – 60 minutes
  • 11v11 and 9v9 Games
  • Staff of Licensed, Premier Level Coaches 

A typical day includes two training sessions (one in the morning and the other in the afternoon). Our professional coaching staff balances both sessions, so that players are not over stressed physically or mentally. When the players are not on the field they will participate in lectures and group activities that will help them develop as soccer players, as athletes and as social members within the team structure. 

Registration Fee for the Summer Select Academy: $390 Scholarships available. Please contact CHSC Director, Rob Sprague, to inquire about financial assistance. The CHSC is dedicated to making sure that player participation is never limited by financial restrictions.

 

SSA Directors

Shaun McBrien

Shaun is the Director of Coaching for NGS and is an accomplished coach holding a number of high level
coaching licenses (UEFA B, NSCAA Advanced  National Diploma). Before moving to the USA in 2009 Shaun worked for the Irish Football Association, coaching in schools, communities and at club level. Prior to joining Newton Girls Soccer as their Director of Coaching, Shaun was formerly the Academy Director and South East Regional Director at PTUSA a professional soccer coaching organization on the South Shore and was head coach of several girl’s and boy’s teams within this club. Shaun’s role as Director of Coaching includes all Player Development and Coach Education programs.

Robert Sprague

Robert is the owner/director of the CHSC. He has been the Brookline Soccer Club’s Director of Coaching since 2002.  He is the Girls Varsity Head Coach at Brookline High School and was a three time GU17 Head Coach for Massachusetts ODP. Robert has his USSF "B" License.
